As part of the PIPS Outreach Program, a 7-day Orientation Training for Interns was held from January 15th to January 23rd, 2018. The participants included more than 20 young and vibrant students from different universities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The prime objective of the program was to equip the participants with the knowledge about the working of the Parliament in a series of various interactive sessions. Beginning with the basics, they were briefed about the Constitutional History of Pakistan, its salient features and how a single Constituent Assembly evolved in what we now call, the Parliament. As the program proceeded, they were enlightened about the Legislative and Non-Legislative Business as well as Professional Writing and Minute-Writing skills. A separate session was also conducted on Parliamentary Research in which they were introduced to different tools and techniques for writing a Parliamentary Brief for the Honorable Members of the National Assembly. Multi-pronged learning techniques were used, engaging participants in different practical exercises.

The program concluded with the distribution of certificates amongst the course participants. Hon. MNA Ms. Nafeesa Khattak presided the ceremony and expressed her views that PIPS is the face of Parliament and it should continue playing the role of bridge between the Parliament and the Youth.
