Parliamentary Studies Certificate Course for the Officers of the National Assembly of Pakistan July 04 – August 30, 2017

    Module I, July 04- August 25, 2017: Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) organized Parliamentary Studies Certificate Course - Module I for the 2nd batch of Officers from the National Assembly of Pakistan from July 04- August 25, 2017 at PIPS.  16 Officers from the Secretariat of and 2 from PIPS attended the course.. The course was divided into two major components – i.e., The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and The Rules of Procedure. Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq, Joint Secretary, and Mr. Qamar Sohail Lodhi, Special Secretary, from the Secretariat of National Assembly of Pakistan co-facilitated the Module. Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq oriented the course participants about the fundamentals of Constitution, its basic definitions, Articles and clauses. Also, he furthered the knowledge of participants about the social contract between the State and its citizens as governed by the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.  Mr. Qamar Sohail Lodhi taught the Rules of Procedure for governing the Assembly business, including basic definitions, Summoning & Prorogation of session, Elections, Working of Committees, Oversight business and management of financial matters. On the completion of course work of Module 1, the participants were assessed for the acquired knowledge.

    Module II, August 15- 30, 2017: After the conclusion of Module 1, Parliamentary Studies Certificate Course -Module II, was conducted at the PIPS campus for the same batch of Officers from August 15- 30, 2017. Module II included sessions on Planning and Coordination, General Organizing Skills, Visioning for Personal Excellence, Planning & Scheduling, Time Management, Report Writing, Minutes Writing, using PowerPoint for formal presentations, Public Policy, Governance, Presentation Skills and Managing Teams. The Course was facilitated by expert in the Corporate and Public sector. The module was designed to enhance the abilities and skills of the participants and also increase their knowledge regarding their day to day working. A Comprehensive exam encompassing all the taught content and formal presentations was held, to assess the knowledge transfer and skills up-gradation amongst the course participants.
