The Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in collaboration with IP5-Mustehkam Parlimaan (a project funded by European Union) commenced a three-day workshop on “House and Committee Business: Responsibilities and Functions of Punjab Assembly Officers” today, Wednesday 1st June, 2022 at Avari Hotel, Lahore.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. On behalf of Secretary Punjab Assembly, Mr. Ali Hasnain Bhalli (Deputy Secretary Legislation) formally welcomed all the participants and appreciated the steps taken by the PIPS and Mustehkam Parlimaan. He was followed by Dr. Syed Pervaiz Abbas (Deputy Team Lead, Mustehkam Parliman) who gave the welcome remarks. Then Mr. Muhammad Anwar, the Executive Director, PIPS, formally inaugurated the event where he emphasized on the importance of learning parliamentary business for secretariat officers. After that, Mr. Waqas Ahmad Qureshi, Director Parliamentary Development Programmes, PIPS, provided an overview of workshop agenda.
The workshop aims to enhance knowledge and skills of secretariat officers in House and Committee Business. This will help them improve their performance in carrying out their responsibilities in more effective and efficient way.
The workshop is being attended by 20 officers serving in grade 16 and above in secretariat of provincial Assembly of Punjab and will conclude on 3rd June, 2022.
