Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services hosted the workshop on “Global Strategic Environment and the South Asian region” organized in collaboration with Strategic Stability Institute Islamabad at PIPS (2 pm to 430 pm). Attended by 19 parliamentarians from different parliamentary parties, the workshop began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Acting Executive Director PIPS, Mr. Muhammad Rashid Mafzool Zaka, welcomed the participants in the opening remarks. Honorable MNA/CEO SSII, Dr. Shireen M. Mazari, led a captivating session on the global strategic environment in the context of the South Asian region. In a comprehensive manner she discussed the contours of the international strategic environment and highlighted its implications for Pakistan keeping in view the prevailing security situation in the country. It was followed by a comprehensive and interactive Q and A session, in which the parliamentarians raised a number of pertinent questions pertaining to Pakistan’s defense and foreign policy. The workshop ended with the vote of thanks presented by Mr. Qazi Sham Ud-Din, PIPS, while PIPS organizing Committee included Mir Shai Mazar Baloch, AD HR, and Ms Fakiha Mehmood, Research Officer.
