Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) organised a training for the newly inducted officials of the National Assembly Secretariat from 25^th September to 23^rd October at PIPS Campus Islamabad as per the directives of the National Assembly Secretariat. The training was divided into two groups. Group two comprised a total number of one hundred and thirteen participants including DEO and APS officials. The objective of this training was to familiarize the newly inducted officials with a basic understanding of the Parliament that would enable them to carry out their duties effectively at the Secretariat. 

The Programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Mr. Khurram Shahzad, Assistant Director, PDP moderated the event and presented a concise overview of the programme. He briefly shed light upon the course contents to be taught during the first week of the training including a basic overview on the Secretariat Instructions, Mode of communication, and other significant file related learning pertinent to Parliament. Participants for this particular training would be further divided into five sub-groups from the second week, each group will receive I.T related training related to use of various software and applications required at their workplace. He then proceeded to inviting the Worthy Executive Director, PIPS, Mr. Muhammad Anwar to express his welcome remarks. Mr. Anwar welcomed the participants to the training, emphasizing the significance of parliamentary officials to an Assembly Secretariat. He stressed that the performance of the Parliament is directly dependent on the performance of its Secretariat staff. He shared his personal experiences of serving in the Senate Secretariat and highlighted that a parliamentary official should have an overall understanding of the parliamentary work rather job specific knowledge only. He wished the participants good luck and hoped the knowledge acquired during this training will enable them to perform their tasks more diligently at their workplace.

Mr. Shahzad invited Mr. Inayat Shah, Office Management Consultant to commence his session on Basics of Secretariat Instructions. The orientation programme will conclude on 23^rd October, 2023.
