The First meeting on MDGs was held on Sep 08, 2015 with the members of MDGs Taskforce, Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was jointly organized by National Assembly, UNDP and Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services. In the first session, Mr. James Littleton and Ms. Marvi Sirmid gave a comprehensive briefing regarding Sustainable Development goals and its expedition from MDGs to SDGs. They highlighted the imperative role of Parliamentarians who can become agents of change by driving the global campaign to usher in a more equitable and sustainable future. In second session, Ms. Marvi Sirmid deliberated on the role and functions of the provincial MDGs taskforce. Her main focus was to stress the need for a greater parliamentary engagement on MDGs in Pakistan. In third session, Mr. Arif Yousaf, Convener Parliamentary Taskforce on SDGs, Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa summarized progress and achievements of taskforce viz-a-viz strategic plan devised in September, 2014 in the wake of first National Parliamentary MDGs Conference held at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services as envisioned by the Honorable Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. At the end, general discussion session was held in which post 2015 agenda was discussed.
