The Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) and the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen institutional collaboration in training, research, and capacity building. This partnership aims to enhance professional development opportunities for parliamentarians, government officials, and civil servants.
Dr. Ijaz Munir, Rector of NSPP, stated that PIPS provides an essential platform for officers to interact with parliamentarians, facilitating direct engagement with the parliamentary system. He emphasized that this interaction will enable officers to develop a comprehensive understanding of legislative processes. Additionally, he noted that PIPS facilities can be utilized to support this initiative, ensuring a structured and effective approach to collaboration between public officials and the legislative branch. As the premier institution for training civil servants, NSPP will contribute its expertise in public policy education to strengthen governance and parliamentary functions.
Mr. Asim Khan Goraya, Executive Director of PIPS, remarked that NSPP serves as the alma mater for officers dedicated to serving the nation. He highlighted that PIPS is mandated to strengthen parliamentary functions in Pakistan through institutional collaboration. He further stated that seminars and workshops will be jointly organized to enhance capacity building. Moreover, he underscored that this agreement will reinforce the relationship between the legislative and executive branches, promoting better governance and policy implementation.
Mr. Muhammad Rashid Mafzool Zaka, Director General of Research at PIPS, stated that the establishment of the institute aims to provide comprehensive training, capacity building, legislative services, and research support. He highlighted that the library and research services offered by PIPS play a crucial role in enhancing knowledge-sharing and institutional development. Additionally, he emphasized that such initiatives contribute to strengthening parliamentary processes and fostering collaboration with institutions like NSPP. This agreement marks a significant step towards bridging the gap between public administration and parliamentary services, ultimately contributing to effective governance and policymaking in Pakistan.
