Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) organized a Pre-Promotion training for the Officers of the National Assembly Secretariat from 14th to 23rd at PIPS Campus Islamabad. Eighteen officers are participating in the training.
The Programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Mr. Khurram Shahzad, Assistant Director, PDP moderated the event and gave a brief overview of the programme. He then proceeded to invite the Worthy Executive Director, PIPS, Mr. Muhammad Anwar for the welcome remarks. Mr. Anwar warmly welcomed the participants and further expressed his confidence that this invaluable opportunity for learning would cultivate the relevant skill sets and parliamentary knowledge necessary for the effective performance of officials’ roles within the National Assembly Secretariat. He emphasized on four primary responsibilities of the officers at the National Assembly Secretariat, which include working with the presiding officers, fulfilling duties within the House, bearing responsibilities within the Committees, and lastly, assisting Honourable Members in their parliamentary endeavours. He extended his well wishes to the participants, expressing hope that this training would greatly enhance their job performance at the National Assembly Secretariat.
The first session of the programme was facilitated by Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq, Special Secretary, National Assembly Secretariat on the Constitution of Pakistan. The other topics to be covered during the two-week training include Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, Office Procedure, Service Rules, and other significant topics related to the working of the Parliament. The participants will take a quiz at the end of the training. The programme will conclude on 23rd February, 2024.
