Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS), in partnership with IP5 project (Support to Parliamentary Development in Pakistan) organized a Post Induction Orientation Programme for the Secretariat Officers of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, from the 7th to 15th December, 2021, at PIPS Campus, Islamabad. Nineteen officers of the Punjab Assembly Secretariat participated in the course. The Programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a Programme overview by DG PDP&C, Ms. Samer Awais who greeted the participants and apprised them on key components of the course including, an overview of the Constitution, introduction to legislative and non-legislative business, legislative research, and Secretariat Instructions that would be covered over the week long training. She further explained course objectives and elaborated that this training was designed to familiarize functionaries with sound learning of essential Parliamentary functions and practice. Team Lead IP5, Mr. Christopher Shields welcomed the functionaries to PIPS, and hoped that this Programme would prove beneficial in their basic understanding of the working and culture of the Punjab Assembly Secretariat. Executive Director, Mr. Muhammad Anwar congratulated the participants over their course nomination and emphasized on the importance of acquiring parliamentary knowledge as a significant part of their work. He expected officials to utilize this training as an opportunity to maximize their learning and develop understanding of Parliamentary procedures and practice that they will be able to implement diligently at their Secretariat. Furthermore, he acknowledged the role of PIPS and IP5 in organizing this workshop.
