A six day Knowledge sharing session was organized for the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) National Assembly from 22nd Sept to 30th Sept 2021 as per request of the Honourable Speaker and President PIPS, Honourable Mr. Asad Qaiser, at the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) Campus Islamabad. The sessions were designed to facilitate the Honourable members, Young Parliamentarian Forum in developing an improved understanding of Parliamentary law, procedure and practice. The six day training was divided between two modules. Module one sessions comprised of improving Parliamentary Performance using Oversight Tools and best practices in Legislative & Committees Business taught by worthy keynote speaker, Executive Director, Mr. Muhammad Anwar, where he explained the effective use of Parliamentary tools and its significance for the members of the Parliament. Module two consisted of legislative processes, Committees and their functions, Significance of Legislation, legislative drafting and post legislative scrutiny subjects, taught by Sheikh Sarafaraz, Legislative Advisor, Ministry of Railways and Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq, Additional Secretary National Assembly Secretariat. At the end of the knowledge sharing sessions, YPF Chairperson Honourable Member, Ms. Uzma Jadoon commended PIPS team for organizing the course and thanked the facilitators for explaining the process of legislative business through providing an in depth overview of the topic using practical examples. Furthermore, YPF members hoped that such training sessions will be organized by PIPS in future as it provides an effective platform to train and capacitate the Young Parliamentarians to make their participation more meaningful especially during the proceedings of the House.
